DAY 2 -- IBM Convention

Category:   Posted by: C. DENNIS SCHICK

DAY 2 of the Annual Convention of the International Brotherhood of Magicians began with stage contest contestants meeting and getting instructions for the rehearsals, which began at 9:30. The first session of the Stage Contest -- always one of the most popular events of the convention -- began at 1 pm today.

In preparation for the Dealers Room opening at 10:30 am, dealers who were not finished loading in were asked to finish. The dealers are an important part of the I.B.M. Convention, especially for magicians who do not have access to a brick-and-mortar magic store.

The Lance Burton Teen Seminar, which began Monday evening, continued today.

The Bob Patterson Board met today to conduct I.B.M. business.

The Evening Welcome Show had been designed to honor Special Guest June Horowitz. But sadly she died the week before the convention, so was not present. The convention was dedicated to her memory, she was honored with touching comments and a video tribute.

Three lectures were highlights of Wednesday. Pop Hayden lectured at 3:30; Steve Valentine lectured at 10 pm, after the evening show; and the Eugene Burger Legacy Lecture was given at 11:30 pm, to close out the day.
