DAY 1: I.B.M. 2019 Convention officially begins

All the pieces of the puzzle were in place, and the 2019 I.B.M. International Annual I.B.M. Convention began Wednesday, July 10, at the Talking Stick Resort, in Scottsdale, Arizona. (Actually, there was an Early Bird Lecture Tuesday evening, by Steve Bargatze. And the annual Lance Burton Teen Seminar started Monday evening, and continued through Tuesday and Wednesday.) Lectures are an important part of I.B.M. Conventions, and Wednesday had two of them, by veteran magicians Greg Wilson, in the morning, and Shawn Farquhar in the afternoon. Other highlights of Wednesday were the rehearsal by stage contestants, a Board Meeting, Part One of the Stage Contest, and the dealer room (“I.B.M. Magic Shops”) opening. Rounding out the day were the popular Welcome Reception, featuring a Meet and Greet with convention performers, and the Opening Show, with comedy legend Paul Kozak and friends. Of course many magicians stayed up until the wee small hours of the morning sharing moves and tricks. After all, that’s one reason why they came to a magic convention.
