I.B.M. Endowment and Development Fund

In 1973, The International Brotherhood of Magicians, a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Ohio, created a financial trust agreement specifically to underwrite charitable, scientific, literary and/or educational purposes, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.

The name of the trust is The Endowment and Development Fund (EDF) of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

The EDF is operated under the direction of three Trustees, appointed by the International Brotherhood of Magicians Board of Trustees. The current EDF Trustees are William E. Spooner (Chairman), William A. Wells, and William E. Evans.

The Trustees manage the Trust and act by a vote of a majority of their number at any given time. Any instrument required to be executed by this trust shall be valid if executed in the name of this trust by such a majority of the Trustees. Each Trustee shall serve without compensation for his services, but all expenses of this trust or any Trustee action hereunder shall be paid by the Trustees from the trust fund.

Each year the Trustees award grants that support projects to enhance the magical arts world-wide. Examples of the types of projects funded are: The I.B.M. Lance Burton Youth Seminar, the LifeTime Membership Program, Honor Ring grants, The Liability Insurance program, The Sorcerers Safari Magic Camp in Canada, the College of Magic in Capetown, South Africa, One year membership dues paid for two youth convention contest winners through the Royal Brin Fund, The Linking Ring on-line project and the collection of I.B.M. Convention Programs through the Conjuring Arts Research Center via Ask Alexander and the free download of Roberto Giobbi's 155-page manual Introduction to Card Magic.
