19th Century Conjuror

About Jeffrey Day

JEFFREY DAY is the former president (2015-2019) of The International Brotherhood of Magicians (est. 1922) local chapter RING16 (aka The Society of Memphis Magicians, 1936). For the sixth consecutive year, Jeffrey has won a local magic competition where magicians come to Memphis from all over the Midsouth region to compete for the SMMURFFF Award (which stands for, Society of Memphis Magicians Unique Reward For Finishing First) which began in 1981. He privately instructs students interested in magic and is working to teach a course in magic at the University of Memphis in 2020. Jeffrey has studied all areas of magic which includes closeup, stage, escapism, and mentalism. However, for the last 15 years, Jeffrey has immersed himself into the conjuring arts of the Victorian era.

"There is some exciting magic buried in books and manuscripts that I have collected over the years that many current day magicians have not seen.  My one-man show, 'The Mesmerist', exhibits many of these astonishing illusions at The Woodruff-Fontaine House (built in 1871) in Memphis, TN.  I am a very big fan of the early conjurors of the Victorian era and I hope to share their magic for years to come."
