About Ronald Ishimaru

Ronald Ishimaru hails from Hilo, Hawaii.  He earned a BS Electrical Engineer from University of Hawaii Manoa and a MA in Vocational Education from California State University Long Beach.

Ronald Ishimaru is an International Brotherhood of Magicians, Order of the Merlin member and Life Member.  Ronald was the 2018-2019 National President of the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.).  He is honored and excited to be the first from Hawaii and of American Japanese ancestry in the Society’s 116-year history to hold this position. In addition, Ronald is currently a franchise licensed Discover Magic Instructor teaching life skill using magic.  He is the owner of Magic Academy Hawaii.

As an engineer, Ronald worked at Hughes Aircraft Company (HAC) in the Electro-Optic Division doing Forward Looking Infrared and LASER designator design.  He later moved on to the HAC Advance Circuit Design group before returning to Hawaii to embark on his Federal Career.  Before retiring with 37 years with the Federal government, Ron served as a Telecommunication Division Manager, a Strategic Plans and Program Manager and retired as the Senior Engineer.

Currently when not performing or teaching magic. Ronald volunteers at the Leeway YMCA as a Board-certified Tai Chi for Fall Prevention Instructor.
