“The Benevolence of Magic” is an original acrylic painting produced especially for The Linking Ring. It represents more than two hundred hours of work executed over a period of three months.
Noted artist Rick Heath captured the subject of our feature story about the benevolent use of magic in a fairytale-like representation. Rick says, “The painting attempts to personify the essential goodness of Magic and the love of the art.”
The initial inspiration came from one of the backdrops Rick painted for Le Grand David and his own Spectacular Magic Company at the Larcom Theatre called “Lady Magic.” The large hand-painted image of a graceful young woman with the face of a porcelain doll, and with light emanating from her embracing hands, represented the spirit of their production, An Anthology of Stage Magic.
Rick explains: “A variation of this image was placed in the realm of ‘once upon a time,’ where anything is truly possible, and where those who are pure in heart – just simple, ordinary folk – are able to witness what others cannot possibly perceive and can receive the knowledge that will touch and transform their lives.”
The original acrylic painting on stretched canvas measures 16 " x 24".
Bidding closes at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, December 30, 2015.
Proceeds will be donated to the Magicians’ Support Fund. The Fund has assisted magicians who incurred losses due to natural disasters and those suffering from chronic disease.
