Stanley Louis Lobenstern, 83, of Casselberry, Florida, died December 15, 2016. His I.B.M. membership number was 19813, and he had been a member since 1975. He was a member of the Order of Merlin Shield (thirty-five years a continuous member). He also was a member of Ring 170 (Orlando, Florida).

He was well-known as the owner of the Rabbit in the Hat Ranch magic store, selling his magic wares usually lower than other sources. He seemed to be of another era, with his quick wit, subtle humor, and flamboyant character. For instance he lived on Crystal Bowl Circle, but he always called it Crystal Ball Circle. A post on his Facebook page said he tried to be a female impersonator at the Venture Inn in Miami at one time. Another remembered him performing magic at Disneyland in California. Still another magician remembers seeing his booth empty in the dealers’ room at the Nashville I.B.M. Convention, and asked him why? He said another dealer bought he entire inventory since Stan’s prices were lower than what the buying dealer paid for them. Survivors include his wife, Sandra. An obituary will be in the Broken Wand of the January issue of The Linking Ring.
