Reed Kids on NBC

Category: Media Magic   Posted by: C. DENNIS SCHICK

On Sunday, April 3, at 8 pm EDT (7 Central), the new hit NBC television series, “Little Big Kids,” will feature the youngest magicians to ever perform on network television. That’s according to Taylor Reed, long-time professional magician in Branson, Missouri. He and his wife, Heather, are the parents of seven-year-old Jillian and four-year-old Anders, who are one of the acts featured.

They will be performing a custom levitation that Taylor invented over twenty years ago. Jillian will levitate her brother, Anders. As is the pattern for the new show, there will also be some informal (often hilarious) chit-chat before they perform the illusion.

“Little Big Shots” features children, ages three through twelve, who excel in various performing arts. The show, which is a cross between “Kids Say the Darndest Things” and “America’s Got Talent”, is co-produced by Steve Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres, with Harvey as on-stage host. After only two shows, it has already been picked up for a second season (a rarity, so quickly). The show is not a competition but a showcase for young talent (and for Harvey’s comedic talents, as he talks with the kids).

Jillian is in First Grade and is home-schooled. Anders is in preschool. Jillian has been in Taylor’s show in Branson since she was eight months old. Anders has appeared in the show since he was one year old. Jillian performed magic on her own for the first time when she was five, and competed in the Young Miss Branson Pageant. She won the talent portion.
