In his electronic newsletter July 5, illusionist Rick Thomas made the surprise announcement that he and his long-time assistant, Tara, were secretly married on Sunday, July 28. They were married at the historic Crescent Hotel in the Victorian town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, just across the Missouri state line. Rick and Tara have begun their second year performing in Branson, Missouri, at the Andy Williams Moon River Theater.
In his newsletter, was the following story: “Five years ago, Rick was in need of a new lead dancer for his show in Las Vegas. Fifty dancers showed up on his stage for one spot. He gave them all thirty seconds to dance. In an instant Rick knew he was watching the finest talent he had ever seen as he watched Tara dance.
“Anyone unable to immediately join the show was asked to leave. Rick watched as this amazing entertainer began to exit the theater. He ran to her and asked why she must go. The answer Rick received was amazing...
“Tara is from Zimbabwe. She was born and raised there her entire life. Tara had traveled to Las Vegas to try out for shows and did not as of yet have a Green Card. Rick’s next question changed their lives forever. He asked, ‘How long until you receive the Green Card?’ Her answer, ‘Two weeks!’ Those two weeks were well worth the wait. Introducing Rick and Tara Thomas!”
