Four Magicians Still in "America's Got Talent"
Category: Blog Posted by: C. DENNIS SCHICK
In the first of two semi-finals of the current season of America's Got Talent, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 30 and 31, one magician advanced to the finals and a second one was eliminated. Three other magic acts will compete along with eight other acts, in the second semi-final on Tuesday, September 6.
The magician who advances is Jon Dorenbos, a professional football player with the Philadelphia Eagles, who has been fascinated and involved in magic his entire life. He performed a spectacular prediction effect involving footballs, a United States map and a magic box.
The magician who was eliminated was Blake Vogt, a young, fresh face with new, original ideas. He did an equally good illusion in which he was transported from the stage to a side balcony. The pro-football connection may have made the difference for Dorenbos.
The remaining three magic acts which will perfomr on the second Semi-final are:
(1) The Clairvoyants, mentalists Thommy Ten and Amelie van Tass, from Austria;
(2) Rubik’s Cube expert Steven Brundage;
(3) Kardan and Brooklyn Rockett, kid magicians. (The Rocketts are the children of Bart Rockett, who performed in Branson for several seasons.)
Watch the show on NBC on Tuesday, September 6, and then go to www.nbc.com and vote. Then watch the results show on Wednesday, September 7 to see who is moving on.
