DAY FOUR IBM/SAM convention fills every magic need

It’s like the IBM/SAM Combined Convention planning committee must have said, “Let’s give them a three-day running start, and then -- BAM! -- make them really challenged by packing a full fourth day of magic!”  At least that’s what it looks like. Consider the following:

Day four began with the I.B.M.’s Order of Merlin Breakfast, at which people were inducted into the various levels of membership longevity (Merlin, twenty-five years; Merlin Shield, thirty-five years; Merlin Excalibur, fifty years; and Merlin Excelsior, sixty years).

Dealers were open most of the day -- 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- giving magicians lots of time to browse and buy, visit with old friends, Christmas shop, and even look for a long-desired magic book, or the next “big thing” in their magic show.

The Close-up Contest was held from 9:30 a.m. to noon, followed by two magic lectures in the afternoon, from: Max Maven, and Juliana Chen. And there were two more lectures,

by Murray Hatfield, and Luis Carreon after the evening shows.

This was the night of the Grand Banquet, with entertainment, followed by the International Magic Competition Show.  Closing out the day was a meeting of the Invisible Lodge.

Whew! This must be the reason why we don’t need as much sleep as we get older.  One day to go.
