The August issue of The Linking Ring is a cause for celebration. Featured is coverage of the I.B.M.-S.A.M. Combined Convention in St. Louis, the first week on July. The first of several reports about the convention includes a list of all the contest winners, an objective overview of the convention, as well as reviews of some of the special performances. The 14 pages of convention coverage include terrific photos by Michael Messing, which make you feel you were there.
Other featured articles this month include "Ricky Jay's Congress of Wonders," "The Magical World of Magi-Whirl," a review of the 50th Florida State Magic Convention, and a special edition of "Cutting Up Jackpots" by Bev Bergeron.
Those who like card magic will welcome the return of "The Trick That Can't Be Explained."
Prolific magician Ian Adair from England brings us a One-Man Parade on Children's Magic.
Hocus in Focus tells us about new magic products, Broken Wand pays tribute to magicians who died recently, and Ring Reports and Ring Events report what I.B.M. members and Rings have been doing.
Our regular columnists are in rare form this month, including Peter Scarlett ("The London Eyes"), Mike Powers ("Card Corner"), and Ed Solmon ("Storytelling Magic"). Joe Turner's column ("Ways and Means" features a terrific item called "Ring Clean" by David Garrard.
