PIRATES OF THE SCARIBBEAN-2

The new gymnasium of Minooka High School-South Campus was filled to capacity for  Dr. Mark Kaschube's production of the Pirates of the Scaribbean-2. This show is incredible in more ways than I can mention. First of all, Mark enlists the aid of all the employess of his dental practices to take part in the production. In addition, numerous community volunteers help to direct the crowds once they are in the building. The hordes of children, many in Halloween costumes were treated to a free photo, courtesy of Mark and the Allusion Photography Studio of Shorewood, Illinois. But there's more...every child received a free gift upon leaving the show. That's not all. Midway through the show, the finalists of the costume contest were paraded across the stage to the cheers of the thousand or more people in attendance. The winners were awarded prizes from the show sponsors, one of which was one year's worth of free ice-cream at a local Stone Creamery. Had I known that, I may have pretended to be a kid again and worn my costume.

The show setting was reminscent of an old pirate ship moored to a dock. Special lighting effects and pulsating music helped to set the stage for an illusion show, the likes of which you seldom see. The entire cast was all decked out in costumes befitting the occasion with professional dancers from the Broadway Dance Center of the Chicago area. A video screen appeared with a mood setting video production to augment the performance of the dancers. Soon Dr. Mark made his appearance as the Captain of the ship. He proceded to produce a beautiful young lady from the flames of a large cage.

In short order she was made to float upward and then disappeared in a flash. The captain was confronted by his evil sister, who frequently interacted with the captain as they sliced, diced and otherwise presented illusions that fit into the pirate theme. During the production, Mark's beautiful children made their appearance followed by his lovely wife Agnieszke ("Aga.") The audience responded with cheers and loud applause.

Mark presented several smaller effects, one of which was a Miser's Dream with three members of the audience. Dubloons were plucked from their eyes, ears, and other parts of their bodies, much to the amusement of the entire audience. The conclusion of the show brought the crowd to their feet with the production of several of the dancers along with a live zebra from an empty packing crate. When was the last time you ever saw that in an illusion show?

Needless to say, Mark spared no expense in bringing the spectacular show to the community. In so doing, he  thanked numerous sponsors who make all this possible, including the Channahon Park District, the Channahon Dentistry Staff, Farnsworth Dental Group Staff, Grand Dental Associates Staff, the Standard Bank and many suppliers of dental related products.Working backstage was a crew of competent people including Tim Felix, owner of Midwest Magic in Franklin Park, Illinois.

Mark has a passion for magic and for bringing quality family entertainment to the communities in which he has his dental practices. I mentioned that this show was incredible in many ways.To me, the most incredible thing about this show is that it was presented FREE to the public. It's Dr. Mark Kaschube's way of paying back to the community. Mark and the entire cast, crew, staff deserve a big Arrr! (That's Pirate talk for "this was one great show.")
