Have You Heard...
February 2, 2009

Greetings, here we are, Superbowl Sunday is over and we have already started February...was it not just yesterday that we were celebrating New Years? Last weeks opening statement "tempus fugit" seems clearer and clearer each day. A beautiful new illusion presented by Sterling Dietz, numerous e-mails with regards to "Happy Magicians Day" from friends in many countries, the preparations for Miami's Mini Magic Day featuring Alexander Blade, Levent, Aldo and Rachel Colombini and the legendary John Calvert; a soon to be visit and lecture from Tom Craven, visiting with Clem and Jean Kinnicutt; it is safe to say it has been a week full of magical happenings. Adding to the magic is the fact that in a few days Jay and I will be celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary; speaking of time flying! (read more) (Read in Spanish)

February 2, 2009

Howdy friends. Another year and history is made: the Steelers are the World "Football" Champs (not soccer); Punxsutawney Phil (the groundhog) saw his shadow which means we will have six more weeks of winter, and: I am beginning my second year of this weekly blog about the Houston magic scene. This week is full and I mean full. We begin with a meeting, go to a lecture, then to a comedy club, then back to another lecture and make final preparations for the following week and our annual banquet. And in between there are magicians working around town plus a local magician is selling a new "Poltergeist Table" and there is an open opportunity to perform for special needs kids. Also, we have some sad news to report. (Read More...)

Around Chicago-February 2009

Around Chicago

February 2009

It's February, the temperature is hovering in the teens but hey, it's Chicago and it's winter. What do you expect? Although it's cold, I had a chance to warm up the other night by going to see the Mike Super Show at the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University. I have hyped the show last month in spite of never having seen Mike perform either in person on the NBC T.V. show, The Phenomenon! After seeing Mike perform, I can understand why he was voted as the most mystifying magician in the U.S. (read more)

I'm Golden

What's Happening on the Houston Magic Scene?Weekly Round-Up

January 26, 2009

Howdy friends. I have been posting weekly updates to this column since February 4, 2008 with great regularity. By my count, it appears that we are now reaching a milestone with 50 postings making this a golden anniversary of sorts. This began as a labor of love and continues to be so even today as I sit here sipping my savory coffee. And I hope to continue submitting more updates to help promote magic in general and Houston in particular. We have a few things going on around town this week for those interested in all things magic around Houston. First, information about some lectures coming; fire and water damage forces us out of I.B.M. Ring venue; banquet update; club meeting notices; T.A.O.M. video update, and; who's working where.
