It won’t be long before Chicago’s wintry weather will be only a memory. The winter winds tail winds helped us find our way to St. Charles, Mo recently to assist with moving the contents of the Headquarters Office of the I.B.M. The lease on the office in St. Louis was about to expire at the end of February so this was a perfect time to seek a new location closer to the home of our Executive Secretary, Mrs. Sindie Richison. Sindie has faithfully served the organization for the past couple of years and has endured a long commute back and forth from her home in St. Charles to our St. Louis office. In spite of the long commute, Sindie has never complained. Her work ethic is exemplary and she plans to remain on the job for a long time. (read more)

February 2009

It's February, the temperature is hovering in the teens but hey, it's Chicago and it's winter. What do you expect? Although it's cold, I had a chance to warm up the other night by going to see the Mike Super Show at the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University. I have hyped the show last month in spite of never having seen Mike perform either in person on the NBC T.V. show, The Phenomenon! After seeing Mike perform, I can understand why he was voted as the most mystifying magician in the U.S. (read more)

January 2009

Happy New Year! January in the Windy City is usually a time of much snow and more cold. Although this is never guaranteed. Recently within one week, the weather in Chicago ranged from below zero to 60 degrees above zero. The old saying used to be, "If you don't like Chicago's weather, wait a minute and it will change." The revised saying should be, "If you don't like Chicago's season, wait a minute and it will change." In any event, the magic scene seems to slow down a bit but there is still some activity throughout the area. Some of the news has to do with a couple of event in the near future. I'm mentioning them now so that you can mark your calendars. (read more)

There is plenty of holiday magic in the Windy City area to get you in the spirit. Before plunging into what's appearing or dissappearing, I thought I would mention the I.B.M. Virtual Online Regalia Shop & Store.  If you are looking for something for that hard-to-buy-for magic fanatic you might try clicking here. The guys at The Magic Supply Company out in Blue Springs keep a pretty good stock of all things related to the I.B.M... And now, here are a couple of reminders including Fred Paul Bailey's The Devil's Daughter. I also have notes on Keith Cobb, Neil Tobin, Gordon Meyer and Bill Pack... (read more)

The month of October brings out some very unusual magic activity in and around the Chicagoland area. If you're looking to see a real Halloween scary show, take a ride up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Milwaukee is a relatively short drive from Chicago and you won't be disappointed at David Seebach's "Illusions in the Night" It's an annual Halloween Magic Extravaganza that was created by David Seebach and his cast in 1991.  It combines spectacular illusions chosen for their seasonal appeal with mysterious stage settings and scenery, eerie music, colorful costuming, lots of audience participation and comedy plus a few good shocks and scares. IBM-SAM Convention 2008

The convention of the century is winding down. I don't want to make all you non-attendees envious but you missed what will go down in magical history as one of the greatest conventions, ever. You will be able to read the reviews of the shows in The Linking Ring and MUM. Hats off the the technical crews both at the hotel and at the theaters. The events have all started on time, have had something for everyone and the shows have been outstanding. The members of the organizing committee are to be commended for producing an extremely well organized and well run convention.
