Don't like Magic 8-Ball results?
Now you can make your own
Since around 2001 or 2002, I have been studying and performing mentalism. I continue to perform and enjoy traditional magic, but, I always looking out for something I can use to enhance a prediction. If you are like me (and you are more industrious than I am), I might have found just the right thing for you: Hack one of those Magic 8-Balls and create your own answers.
Now, let me issue this disclaimer: In order to hack the Magic 8-Ball, you will need to deal with sharp knives. Children should not try this unless they are supervised and assisted by an adult. And, for everyone who tries it, be sure to take all safety precautions.
Craig Smith has come up with a way to slice into the Magic 8-Ball, remove the core inside, drain the liquid and whittle away the letters on the 20-sided die inside. (Yeah, I had no clue there were 20 potential answers, either.) Once the original answers are sliced away, then you can provide your own. Smith describes the entire process here.
If you are into mentalism and are looking for a new way to come up with a prediction, then you might want to check this out. I have not thought through how I would use this in a routine, but you could have 20 ideas that relate to the prediction.
If you decided to try this, why not post a comment and let us know how it turned out for you.
Bobby
