December 28, 2008
by Maria Ibâñez
Greetings, dawn usually marks the beginning of a new day. The dawn of January 1, 2009, however, marks the beginning of 365 new days and 365 new opportunities. I send each of you no less than 365 best wishes for all your special dreams, wishes and plans to come to fruition.... I wish each and everyone of you the very best that life has to offer and the strength to live up to all those New Years resolutions we all make. Thank you for all the wonderful cards, e-mails and phone calls throughout the holidays - they were made all the more special for your reaching out to us. (lea en Español) (read more)
Last week's "Have You Heard?" did not get e-mailed or published because I have been on the road traveling since the 10th of the month and have not always had ready Internet access. I am still on the road and will not return to Miami until the 5th of January, but since we have a computer and a connection (although that is only dial up) here in Palatka, I am able to get this issue out.
Many of you have written and phoned about whether or not I was able to make it to Beverly for my birthday. I was able to go but the weather was not the greatest, there were downed power lines and heavy ice in some areas. Did enjoy he fireside at the Surath’s and a beautiful visit with Cesareo, David and the company. The show Sunday was, as it always is, a wonder to remember and yes, Cesareo performed and was on stage on a couple of occasions.
Because we are on dial up, I am trying to keep this issue small, but I will have a full issue, along with photos, this coming week when we return home and will be on broadband.
Always and forever remember to keep a dream in the making for you create your tomorrows by what you dream today...and, may all those dreams come true.

Belated Anniversary wishes
Jerry & Clarice Sommerdin Happy belated 50th Wedding Anniversary; a celebration which took place on November 27th!! To commemorate the event, their son Robert and daughter-in-law, Irina, took them to Las Vegas. They stayed at the Venetian and I’ve heard it said that Jerry was "blown away". They flew Southwest Airlines, and the flight attendants made them crowns out of peanuts bags and an anniversary cake from a roll of toilet paper. They were able to see Cirque du Soleil "O", Phantom, and Robert says "I tortured them with Blue Man Group". Since they see so many magic performances on a regular basis they were not so interested in magic, although they did see Mac King, and sat right up front. He was extremely entertaining. They also were taken to see a show by Dixie Dooley. Robert, Jerry’s son is friendly with Dixie Dooley after purchasing a substantial amount Houdini Memorabilia from him. Robert is a a serious collector of Houdiniana. In closing Robert told me that they met a gentleman in Houdini’s Magic Shop who currently has one of Jerrys’ very old effects for sale on eBay. Happy Anniversary Jerry and Clarice; happy to hear it was so special.
