Greetings, this issue is full of wonderful news, a new address for the International Brotherhood of Magicians headquarters the birthday of a dear man, Norm Nielsen; upcoming conventions; opportunities and places for colleagues to come together; the announcement of a new group joining FISM; this week's great show to be hosted jointly by IBM Ring 45 and Magic City Conjurers in Miami; a brand new specially designed gold ring to be unveiled by TAOM; word of an upcoming outstanding I.B.M. convention to be held in Nashville this coming June; and a great deal more. Sitting here and thinking, I cannot help but marvel at what this Internet has been able to accomplish, imagine being able to get word around the globe with just a click of that little "send" button! The nation is facing tough economic times, and it is often easy to throw our arms up in the air and say "phooey" or to give up and think there is nothing we can do; yet, it is wise to remember the old adage that says that "when the going gets tough the tough get going". I take that to mean get going towards implementing new ideas and ways of making things happen NOT get going towards the lets give up road.
Let us go back in our memories to the days when our elders said we couldn't climb a tree and that is just what we set out to do just to prove them wrong....they said we were too young to do something, yet we went out and did it just to prove we could. Let us put those energies to use now and prove that we can do what we are being told cannot be done due to the economy and this or that; let us take our frustrations with the situation, the challenging conditions out there, and forge and push forward and turn things around for ourselves. Great achievements come from sitting down and looking head on at those things which are holding us back and working towards turning those around to our favor. Remember the best days of our lives are still ahead of us or as the saying goes; "the best is yet to come".
New publicity means, 100 cards a day given out instead of just 25, updated or revamped marketing methods? What are you doing to make your magic pick up? Share it with us that we may share ideas with each other and be of mutual help.

FLASOMA JOINS FISM
A direct result of the board meeting held at FLASOMA in Peru just this month is that FLASOMA will now be the representative of the Latin American societies to FISM; prior to this year each of the groups was a member of FISM individually but now they will be members as a society.

Tarnecci, from Peru, the Grand Prix winner in Close-up at Peru's FLASOMA competition this year was not only awarded a spot to compete in Beijing at FISM, but was also awarded a contract to perform at this year's Italian National Convention by Domenico Dante. Congratulations to Tarnecci.

CHARLIE FENN OPENS WORLD MAGIC SEMINAR
Just heard from Charlie Fenn that he will be opening the festivities at World Magic Seminar with his rendition of Frank Sinatra. He has also been hired to perform as Sinatra at the Wintercarnival of Magic in Pigeon Forge the second week of March. I had the opportunity to see this performance last year at the Midwest Magic Jubilee where Charlie and his performance were very well received. Congratulations Charlie on the accolades and honors received.
