The Camerland College of Conjuring continues its labors of promoting magic and magicians. If you haven't visited the website, you should do so by clicking here Camerland College and apply for membership. Bev Bergeron and I are both Sr. Full Professors and Trustees.
I will be working this weekend telling magic tales at the Redland Festival at the Fruit and Spice Park, much as I have years past. There will be several shows on Saturday and several on Sunday. If you are in the South Florida area and can attend, I would love to see you there.
Until next time, keep a dream in the making for you create your tomorrows by what you dream today.

STERLING DIETZ, MY GRATITUDE
Sterling Dietz, my dear friend, continues to do well both in his private life and in his magic career. He is someone to keep an eye on for my prediction for him is one of a bright and very successful future. Sterling is a dear young man and I am proud and honored to call him a friend. Recently I received a copy of a page in his private journal and was very deeply touched not just by what he wrote with regards to me, but also the company that he put me in. He wrote the page after reading Dr. Paul Critelli's article on Lynetta Welch.
..."I was next to have the good fortune to become friends with a most wonderful lady many of you know as Merlina, Our past S.A.M. President Maria Ibanez. Maria is another one of the most caring people you could ever get to know. Her love of people, magic, and country, is demonstrated, and acted out in so many ways. Her service to the families of our Military, the community of magic and her servant's heart to all she comes in contact with is similar to the passion and dedication of the other women in my life of magic. In sitting down and reflecting over Paul Critelli's article, I came to realize that Maria, Abbi, Joanie, Betty, Lynetta, my Mom, and Grandma, are women who continue to play a major role in the molding and shaping of my magic, and my life. Who are the magical women in your life?"
THE TARBELL BOOKS
Many of us own these marvelous books which are treasure troves of information and although we bought them and brought them home as what they are....treasures, I wonder how many of us
continue to think of them that way and to refer to them when we are looking for magic information? Recently I received correspondence from Denny Haney and the first few lines of that e-mail made me stop and think, bet you will too. Denny's recommendation for a New Year's resolution is that you resolve the following: "Before I buy another book or another trick, I will complete my Tarbell Course in Magic!!" Denny further says:
"1- Did you know that over half of all questions asked of me are answered the same way.."It's in Tarbell!!"?
2- Did you know that over half of the entire Lance Burton stage show is in Tarbell?
3- Did you know that many "magic websites" are selling you tricks or "one trick DVD's" that are taken right out of Tarbell?
4- Did you know that if you do not own (and read) the Tarbell Course in Magic, that you will spend most of your life in magic depending on others to answer your questions?
5- Did you know that many magicians have already spent thousands of dollars on "new effects" because they didn't know that they were already in Tarbell?
6- Did you know that the knowledge from Tarbell would enable you to sit down with almost ANY famous magician and talk magic on the same level??
6- Did you know?..You WILL know if you read Tarbell!!!!"
HERE'S A STATEMENT FROM HARLAN TARBELL,
THE GREATEST TEACHER IN ALL OF MAGIC:
"I know that you have been anxious to make rapid progress toward your goal of becoming a master magician... Remember that my chief purpose in this course is to teach Magic...to teach you its fundamental principles.Do not, then, make your chief purpose in learning the course to be the learning of effects. If you do this, you lose the value of the course. You will never become a Master if you overlook the principles." - HARLAN TARBELL
SO WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT???????
The Tarbell Course in Magic will be your "core" from which you learn. You will be exposed to ALL kinds of magic and you will find yourself enjoying certain things that you never thought you would be interested in. I honestly believe that you should buy no other books until you have completed this course.
There will be no need to wait for the next TV special or DVD to be released to decide what you want to learn. The Tarbell Course in Magic is extensive and yet is one of the least expensive investments in your art that you will ever make. Buy these volumes one at a time and you'll find that you won't even miss the money you've spent.
One day you will realize that you now have the complete course at your fingertips and it didn't really affect you financially. I have put a brief description of each volume on this list. Just look at the subjects covered and I think you will agree that these are fine books to invest in. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student of magic, these books will be so rewarding to you.
For those who already own the set, go back to them. It has probably been many years since you've read them. Read them again and see the "new stuff" that jumps off of these pages. If you already own "some" of these volumes, make it a point to complete your set now. If you don't have any of these volumes, you can start with Volume 1 or 2 and then start to collect them all.
Each volume is extensive. Don't let that scare you. Although you will refer to these books so often that you will eventually read them cover to cover, it is NOT necessary that you read them that way from the beginning. Jump around in these books, pick out some things you like, just look at what is available in the world of magic.
TONY SPINA PLANNING A JUBILEE
Just received word from Tony Spina that he is planning a Jubilee, and while not all the plans are etched in stone yet, here is a copy of the e-mail he sent with some of the details.
You provide a valuable service to the magic fraternity. Especially to us retired guys who are kind of out of the loop. I also would like to extend Birthday wishes to Father Cyprian, a long time friend over these many years. And if it were not for your newsletter would have never known of his. Here is a magic scoop for you, I am planning a magic reunion.
Yes, will be the 1st Tony Spina Magic Jubilee Reunion. The format will be like our fantastic Jubilees that I had during the 70's, 80's and 90's. I wonder how many were at Brown's Hotel in 1976 when we first introduced young David Copperfield, or in 1994 bringing Silvan from Italy for his spectacular show and introducing the up and coming magic stars Jonathan David Bass (1997) & The Voice of Magic, Romeo, in 1999. And our shows, from Italy, France, Germany and.many "Louie" awards that were presented over the 39 years. I believe this first Tony Spina Magic Jubilee Reunion, with my first of the "TONY" award for Magic will once again "bring back the old days"... More news as we progress. The magic dates are for August 27 thru the 29th 2009 For more information feel free to contact me at tspina@hvc.rr.com

GOOD AND WELFARE
DICK BLOWERS
Please keep Dick Blowers, past National Administrator of the S.A.M. in your prayers as he recovers from blood clots in his left leg. He was sent to the hospital on New Years Eve when the diagnosis was confirmed. He is on medications and Mary Ann is making sure to give him his medications daily. Their planned trip to Australia has had to be put on hold for now. Our prayers are with him.
PAUL BAIRD ... from Ken Maynard
As most of you may already know, Paul Baird, has been doing very poorly and has been receiving hospice care at the Sterling Health Care Center at 18 Dana Hill Road, Sterling, MA. Joan Baird has been spending every minute possible with Paul. She called me to request that I post this notice on the website and in the newsletter. The receptionist at the Health Care Center will not give out Paul's room number due to HIPPA laws which prevents them from giving out confidential information.
Joan would appreciate cards and letters. Her address is: Joan I. Baird, 2 Chace Hill Road, Lancaster, MA 01523-1863. Please pray for both Paul and Joan while they go through this time of trial in their lives.
