By C. Dennis Schick, I.B.M. Portal Editor (posted 8/16/10)

Do you know who helps pay for this portal, as well The Linking Ring?  ADVERTISERS, that's who. But you already knew that, didn't you? "Free" radio and television really aren't free. Advertisers pay for them. "Free" magazines and newspapers aren't free, either.  And even those magazines and newspapers which charge a fee, would be considerably higher if it wasn't for advertising.

Go ahead -- CLICK on each one of the ads you see on these pages. Each time you click on an ad, this is recorded and reported to the advertisers. This is one of the special features of I.B.M. portal ads. If you want this kind of report for your company, contact B.J. Hickman, portal advertising manager. Are your other advertising dollars working for you? Give the portal a chance to tell your story.

We invite you to send to us magic news and information YOU see, hear, or know about. We also welcome your ideas to make the portal more valuable to you.  We can't and don't know everything, and we ask all of you to help us keep you informed. Please don't keep from telling us something because you assume we already know it. We'd rather hear something several times than not at all (especially breaking news, like obituaries). Here are some new items:

The book had been translated into Spanish long before it made its way to the United States. As Rolando tells it, “I was just fiddling with a deck of cards and making notes in my magic journal. At the table behind me were four women, including an older woman who was obviously the matriarch of the family and her daughters.”
