TOP HAT
By Ryan Salwak

Welcome to the new issue of Top Hat. The number of contributors continues to grow as you will see in the following pages. My thanks for the excellent submissions by Sterling Dietz and Chad Jones. Sterling's advice, taken from his own experience, about practicing, rehearsing, and performing, is something every member will want to read, think about, and apply. Just as inspiring is Chad Jones' article on how magic and the power of the media can help to bring peace where there is chaos, calm where there is fear. The story about how Criss Angel's example helped Chad's life when he was diagnosed with cancer is one you will want to share with your fellow magicians and family. (read more...)

But there's a lot more to interest you in these pages. From India's Solyl Kundu comes one of his exclusive routines that he has used for over 20 years. Articles on The Sorceror's Summer Camp in Canada, Matt McCoy's article on the elegant magic of Jade, and Dakota Rose's piece are sure to keep you reading and thinking. Keep the submissions coming. Our goal is to reach out to young magicians throughout the world with fresh material, inspiring human interest stories, and much more.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be involved in many stage shows throughout the world. When I was asked to take the leadership of the Top Hat, I thought it would be a great opportunity, since I am already publishing my own local newspaper and have experience in putting publications together. My goal is to get Top Hat read by many youth around the world who are interested in Magic. Most importantly, I want this to be a magazine written by and produced by interested youth magicians. I am asking any of you who are interested in getting involved to submit articles to me as well as potential ideas for future articles. If any of you would be interested in editing a specific column, please feel free to drop me a note as well. The following are potential column topics:

·   Feature Articles
·   What is going on the world of magic and youth?
·   Suggestions for Stage and Close Up Magic.
·   How to get jobs in Magic.
·   Suggestions for being a better performer.
·   Got a trick you would like to share?
