This is the last week of September, so hurry if you're going to do something this month. The kids are back in school, and it's time for Fall Festivals, Octoberfests, Tailgate Parties, Halloween Spook Houses, and many other opportunities for MAGIC. And the leaves have begun to change -- just like MAGIC!
Here are some coming magic events we've been told about: • J.C. Wagner tribute • Daytona Beach Festival of Magic • David Sandy's Magic Cruise.
1. CELEBRATION OF J.C. WAGNER'S LIFE. J.C. Wagner, perhaps the best and best-known bar magician in the world, died August 15. He had friends all over the world, so it is not surprising that some of those friends would plan a gathering to celebrate his life. We have just received an announcement of such a celebration, from Syd Segal. It will be this coming Saturday, October 2nd at McP's Irish Pub, 1107 Orange Avenue, in Coronado, California. The poster asks that guests arrive by 12:30 pm and the celebration will begin at 1 pm.
Speakers will include James Patton, Jamy Ian Swiss, Terry Lunceford, Mike Stilwell, and other friends and family members. Food and drinks will be provided. Donations are being accepted (via Paypal) at sydsegal@gmail.com. Checks may be sent to Syd at 4265 Palm Ave. #30, La Mesa, CA 91941. Also being accepted are stories and pictures. Send them to Syd at his e-mail address.
2. DAYTONA BEACH FESTIVAL OF MAGIC. This is the tenth annual convention for the Daytona Magic folks, and the Florida Magician's Association. and they are celebrating in style. Scheduled for November 5-7, special guests are Mark and Nani Wilson, and Michael Ammar. See the half-page ad in The Linking Ring, and go to www.daytonamagic.com for more details.
3. DAVID SANDY'S MAGIC CRUISE. He's at it again! David Sandy has put together another special magic event, as seen in his full-page ad in The Linking Ring as well as his banner ad here. He really knows how to promote the November 6-14 event, including a night-before evening at the Magic Castle. There are too many good details to list here, so go see the ad, or go to www.magiccruise2010.com
Yes, magic is in the air, with special events like these happening everywhere. Watch the I.B.M. portal and The Linking Ring for ads for special events. Contact B.J. Hickman (advertising@magician.org) to tell your event's story. You DO have a story to tell, don't you? Why not tell it to the largest audience of any magic publication in the world? We'll even give you a report on how many people have clicked on your ad. How's THAT for feedback?
