Brain Candy was a pet DVD project by me and fellow Minnesota magician Scott Franz originally intended as a gift for our families. It is a PERFORMANCE-ONLY collection of things we either dreamed up from scratch or found lurking in the bottom of our magic closets and decided to test out. We've decided to share our labor of love with the rest of the world. Every magic trick on Brain Candy was done in a single camera shot with no edits, no cutaways, no special effects and no camera tricks. Everything was done in "real time." This DVD is NOT a commercial item that can be purchased in stores (or even from us). We wanted to put this together for several reasons: 1) to flex our collective creative muscle, 2) to prove to ourselves that we could really pull off some of these "technical nightmares" we'd dreamed up and 3) as a cheap form of entertainment for friends and family. There are several groundbreaking, never-before-seen illusions showcased on this effort, including: -- my "self levitation" in a vacant parking lot with NO structures anywhere near me - I lift myself up BY MY OWN HEAD -- making a horse and its handler appear from NOWHERE (looks like a camera trick but it isn't - the bed sheet behind the horse & man is a regular, unaltered king-size bed sheet) -- pushing a signed playing card through a CLOSED car window (there was never ANYONE in the car at ANY time during the illusion and, yes, it IS the same card). The DVD contains outtakes and some bonus features including a couple of photo montages and even a "Spot the Duct Tape" challenge.
