"BULLY POOFING PROGRAM" (not a spelling mistake)

This program has been a great success in schools in Canada and the United States. This is the most requested school program Trent presents and the first motivational program in Alberta to utilize the "Don't Laugh at Me" Project. Trent provides a program that will incorporate several motivational and educational messages. Magic as a visual learning aid will help students to remember the message after the program has ended.

Trent talks with students about bullying and what to do if they have witnessed or been a victim of it. Trent will leave the students with a simple, easy to remember formula to assist them when bullied. Trent will show through magic what someone who has bullied can do to repair the damage they have caused.

The program will encourage students to look inside themselves and help decrease instances of bullying. Trent will leave the students with a motivational message and performance to inspire students to have the courage to reduce bullying.

This program is based on the Olweus Bully Prevention Program, Don't Laugh at Me Bully Prevention program and information from experts in the area of Bully Prevention such as Barbara Coloroso.

An information package left with each school will help start a bully prevention program or enhance the program already in place. A program package will be mailed to each school following the presentation to help facilitate an effective program being started in your school. Effective programs have demonstrated to reduce the incidents of bullying by one half over two years in schools with Administrators that support the program.

This presentation was further developed with the selfless assistance of Jane Riese, Director of Training, Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

Presented in several schools that utilize the "Dare to Care" Program.

"It was amazing and the messages made an impression about bullying."
Nathan Grade 5 student

Other comments from School Principals:

"This is an excellent program that I would recommend for every school."

"This is the best presentation for students that I have attended in over 30 years of teaching."

"You Program was more than we could ever have hoped for."

"FRIENDS WITH CHARACTER"

This program uses several elements of the "Bully Poofing" program and created for schools that use "Character" based programs. Trent will use magic to illustrate the qualities and characteristics that we should all look for in what he calls a fantastic friend. The program demonstrates the importance of having these same positive characteristics if we want to have friends with these attributes. We can become like the people we assocaite with and that is why it is so important to have good friends.

The Friends with Character has been a great success and well suited to schools with a character education program in place or wanting to start an effective program with their students.

As with other programs an information package is left with the school to help implement a Character based program or enhance an existing program. A program package will also be sent to each school that has the Friends with Character presentation for their students.

"MAGIC OF READING"

The first educational program Trent developed and is still a favorites to present to students. This program is designed to teach "every book is a magic book" and "we can read ourselves smart". The program involves fun colorful magic that will leave the students entertained and with an interest to explore school and public libraries.

This program reviews some of my favorite books with the use of magic. Staff have commented that they enjoyed the program as much as the students. This program has been modified on occasion to incorporate the theme of a reading week or review of a special book. Trent will discuss options available or work on a new idea with you. The program ends with a motivational message about an individual who showed the world that every book is a magic book and even more important that we can change our lives through reading.

“We will be calling Trent again and again”. Leslie Winfield, Olds Public Library

"STAY IN SCHOOL"

This is an interactive program that will encourage high school students to obtain their diploma and stay in school. This program has been a great success and well received by high school students. Trent will share a positive message with students on the importance of staying in School and the benefits received other than just their diploma for staying in high school.

Trent will draw on his experience of working in a slaughter house, on an assembly line, and with the Justice System for over 20 years to help students understand the importance of obtaining an education. He will use magic and comedy to teach students the value of staying in high school. Trent will help the students come to an understanding that an education will help them realize their life's ambitions.

Trent will also share the most amazing statistics with students regarding the additional value and life opportunities that will be available to them as a result of the decision they each make to stay in school. An initiative to encourage students to stay in school that Member's of the Alberta Legislature over Education and Services Alberta will also be shared with students and support documents will be left with faculty to also support this initiative. This initiative has become law in various locations and proven to reduce the incidents of students dropping out of high school. Call or e-mail for additional information.

"SCIENCE OR MAGIC"

This program is an exciting way to learn about science. This presentation will teach young people that some experiments can look like Magic. The program contains both magic and science and the science will be explained during the program. The magic unfortunately will not.

The "Science or Magic" presentation is a tested and proven method for giving audience members a chance to learn how magic works and also gives them a further desire to learn about science.

The concept behind the show is that almost every person enjoys magic and with science being the underlying principles they also enjoy Science and may not know it.

Not only do the young people enjoy the magic show they will also want to know how the tricks work. Once they are given the secrets and instructions, many students will practice and perform the tricks for family members and friends.

The "Science or Magic" Presentation includes demonstrations that look like something from a laboratory and include experiments presented as magic tricks. The students and faculty are shown how to construct and perform the tricks. The materials needed to make the tricks are generally found in the home or are common low cost items from the grocery or hardware store.

The tricks in the show are based upon scientific principles. As the students learn the magic secrets, they are also learning the scientific principles that make the tricks possible.

There is an added and unexpected plus to observing and finding out about magic for the students and faculty in that what they view as entertainment or as a hobby is actually science that is not only fun but also useful, exciting and valuable to study.

The tricks in the show are selected from some of the best books available on the subject with most of these books found in the school and public libraries. Depending on time constraints there will be a question period at the conclusion of each presentation.

Information will be presented in an way that will help students understand scientific principals such as inertia, gravity, center of mass, heat diffusion and what scientific principles are at work when we view an optical illusion. This presentation is quickly becoming a favorite. If you school is working with students on a particular scientific principle please let Trent know upon booking and he will work to include a related experiment in the presentation.

"THE MAGIC OF MONTE CARLO"

This program was created for French Emersion Schools. An introduction regarding the Monte Carlo Magic Stars hosted by Princess Stephanie, and the presentation of the gold and silver wands is shared with the students. Information for this program was provided by Richard Forget one of the most outstanding magicians in Canada. A magical performance of several of the classic effect of magic is then shared. This program has been very successful and a lot of fun. On occasion an interpreter from the school is required as I am still working on my ability to speak French.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

For your next Professional Development day consider an intimate setting with Trent. A discussion on Bullying and the growing Gang Problem in Canada and the United States will help attendees gain an understanding of this important topics. An open discussion with Trent will provide information and tools to deal with these concerns. Information provided is based on the work of leading professionals and current research. Trent will review the key components of an effective bully prevention program and will provide resources to obtain the best programs available. Magic and visual learning aids make this presentation memorable and entertaining. Follow up resources are provided.
