suspend disbelief

The exhibitionist side of the family is
rumoured to have extended from my Great
Grandmother who married into the family.
She was billed as a Siberian Sword Swallower
but came to an unfortunate end when, during a
multiple blade effect, it was pointed out that
she was neither Siberian nor a trained Sword
Swallower.
Performance skipped the generations, although
there are noted attention seekers.
I was packed off for study and experience and
have returned with an increased sense of magic
and the facets which surround it.
Magic releases a new element in our lives. I am
here to demonstrate it's potential and discuss
an approach which best suits.

September 2007 ...
Stirring up a little mystery and mayhem
with the dark nights upon us for TYKES -
The Young Carers East Sutherland - "UNLOCKED" Mysteries
by Clive Grewcock ... The witching hour approaches.
October 2007
An assistant has been found at last. Having trawled the back streets of Paris,
all the papers have been signed and inoculations completed to propel "The Amazing Madame Dauphinois" into the limelight to add a touch of continental pizzazz to my repertoire. A little quiet while learning the English language-but what a well rounded performer.
10 October 2007
An enjoyable evening entertaining the Rotary Club of East Sutherland. The
highlight was untangling the disjointed words extracted from a dream. These were reassembled to reveal an unusual prediction and the name of the freely chosen card by member Rev. Dr John Sterret who graciously assisted throughout.
27 October 2007
A very happy birthday to Natalie who was entertained and joined in the entertaining with a room full of friends. Enjoying some fun mind reading, experiments with egg surgery and card shooting.
30 October 2007
A Hallowe'en afternoon with the Young Carers East Sutherland (TYKES) under the title of "Unlocked". Low light and candles provided the ambience for the packed room to watch and participate in magical mysteries involving mind reading and tales of strange happenings.
12 November 2007
Have finished working on a short promo clip which includes some philosophical thoughts on magic and it's important place in the structure of our lives. Not heavy just thought provoking.
4 December 2007
It should be noted on this page that Clive Grewcock is a fully paid up member of "Equity" which gives all the benefits of the organisation including insurances.
24 December 2007
What can I say, the guy in the big red suit is about to arrive and I am soaking up the Magic of the season and in discussions about projects and plans for next year.
1 January 2008
Welcome to the New Year with my warmest wishes. A delightful time spent over the festive season and what better way to see the new year in than Hogmanay with my family then indulgence in performing Magic for the house party at the Dornoch Castle Hotel this evening. A wonderful start and looking forward to 2008 with anticipation.
5 January 2008
Congratulations to Angela Stewart and Grant Campbell who were married in Inverness-shire today. A wonderful couple who's hospitality was outstanding while close-up Magic was provided by myself at dinner as well as during after dinner drinks.
Burns Supper January 2008
The Rotary Club of East Sutherland held a very successful
Burns Supper at the Golspie Golf Club when 50 Rotarians and their guests were entertained by a top table of speakers which included a rendition of the Address to the Haggis. The evening was rounded up with an "open floor" for performances with a Burns theme. It reached a climax when Clive Grewcock brought more than a hint of Magic with a Burns connection.
21 February 2008
An afternoon of excitement at Golspie Primary School when I explained something of the wonder of Magic. Not a moment for challenge but something within ourselves which sees things really happening that are unexplained. Of course accompanied with flashes of fire, exploding eggs and a bursting balloon (thanks David M!).
27 February 2008
Bringing a little Magic to Golspie Playgroup. We had vanishes, cutting rope, sponge and drawing with the youngsters entertaining me as much as me them.
14 to 16 March 2008
Attending the 5th South Tyneside Magic Festival. Full on magic with lectures, shows and workshops into the early hours. Well worth the experience with advice and tuition which is second to none from the likes of Juan Tamariz, Charlie Frye and Terry Herbert.
28 & 29 March 2008
A feature about my rising profile in Magic for The Northern Times and a shortened version in the Press & Journal newspapers which can be read at http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/561790
April 2008
A busy month with telephone calls, emails, discussions and geared towards bookings for the coming year across Scotland which is wonderful because the variety is fantastic - all with the common thread of sharing Magic. Performances include parties, weddings, after dinner Magic as well as very informal illusion.
12 May 2008
Some biog with an article running in this month's edition of Highland Life. Great news for spreading the word of Magic in the North - catch it on pages 34/35 at www.highland-life.co.uk
24 May 2008
Congratulations to Adam Maclennan and Bumjoo Cho for their marriage in Caithness. A glorious day and wonderful people, what a recipe for Magic for the children and grown ups.
3 June 2008
When magic is spontaneous that 'moment' is special and this was proven today with a group showing a fascination with Magic.
18 June 2008
After literally months of training and inumerable fatalities the Flea Circus raised it's Big Top with such class acts as Flea-Ting Moment, Hum-Flea Bogart and the daredevil Trace-Flea Campbell. Hailed as a great success despite the near death escape of Hum-Flea who will live to perform again.
19 June 2008
The circus continues at Golspie Playgroup. Could this be an early appearance of Mr Clockwork. Watch this space.
25 June 2008
An evening cruise on Loch Ness for the Rotary Clubs of Inverness, Dingwall and East Sutherland to mark the end of the term of office for E. Sutherland President Malcolm McCall. 3 hours on the Jacobite Cruise no sign of Nessie but great entertainment and a relaxed audience of all ages to mingle amongst.
1 July 2008
Light entertainment with the children of Allsorts holiday club in Dornoch, Sutherland. We enjoyed an hour of vanishes, cards in eggs, sponges and help from Merlin the Magic Cat.
1 July 2008
A wonderful Celtic fabel written and told to the children of the Feiss Workshop in Sutherland - a week of learning about Gaelic Music, Art and Culture - about the great Presto Magico and his tricking the Darkness to bring back Light. The story ended with a parlour-style presentation of magic for the group under the guise of Presto Magico. Floating light, multiplying balls, card illusion and trickery... "THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING SUCH AN EXCELLENT MAGICIAN. IT WAS GREAT FUN!"
2 July 2008
The Feiss workshop evening joining alongside activities for the participants. Discussing magic and giving presentations.
4 July 2008
A day of Magic for the Isobel Rhind Centre summer fete at Invergordon, Ross-shire. A wonderfully hot day for strolling and table magic.
5 July 2008
Congratulations to Lissa and Drew for their wedding at Dornoch Cathedral. Magic for the couple and guests during their reception and evening celebrations - a terrific couple and families creating the perfect atmosphere for magic.
19 July 2008
An evening and night of fun and entertainment in the name of Magic for Mr Murray's house party of friends at Macleod House.
25 July 2008
The mood was already jolly as we baked in the heat on the shores of Loch Ness at the wedding of Anne and Robin. Before dinner a little light Magic to whet the appetite.
29 July 2008
Tremendous enthusiasm from the children of Allsorts when I performed magic as part of their Summer programme. Also, having been well rested, the magnificent Flea Circus fired up the band and the miniature marvels entertained with their daredevil stunts.
4 August 2008
Performing close-up for evening guests and visitors during the Clynelish 5-day Open at Brora Golf Club.
September 2008
Between the end of August and the early part of September Magic is proving exciting with discussions for next year and over the festive season.
20 September 2008
Table Magic for Brora Wanderers football club end of season dinner and prize night at Il Padrino's restaurant in Brora, Sutherland. The players are pretty much all card enthusiasts and with guests invited to the dinner it was an exciting night - in fact one of those occasions which could have continued beyond the hours of the function.
26 September 2008
An afternoon with visitors and service users of the Beachview Centre in Brora, Sutherland during an open afternoon to highlight the facility and welcome guests. A good occasion for Magic, good location and good humour to the day.
